Learning to speak another language opens the door to another culture.
It also opens the door to wider understanding, to appreciating differences and to looking for alternative solutions to problems.
EFMB was founded in 2010 by Valérie Timmons and is based in Santa Cruz, California. We are a mostly volunteer-based non-profit organization created to provide a bilingual, multicultural after-school affordable educational options so that children from 5 to 18 years old living in our area may acquire, retain or improve knowledge of a foreign language and learn about different traditions and cultures.
The main 3 elements are QUALITY, PROXIMITY and AFFORDABILITY.
Our program offers an educational, affordable, yet fun environment for your children to learn a foreign language using outstanding pedagogical materials. As the spoken language is at the heart of the teaching methodology, our educational program focuses on the verbal expression and leaves an important place to fun and engaging activities. Children will have many opportunities to exchange, share, listen, read and write in French or Spanish. We carefully recruits teachers to ensure the highest quality of teaching and prepare our students to earning diplomas granted by the French Government and accepted in French-speaking universities (DELF – Diplôme d’Etudes de Langue Française) and the DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera); the official accreditation of the degree of fluency of the Spanish Language, issued and recognised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain and accepted in hispanophone universities.
However, our long term goal is to convince the school districts to open more immersion programs in French and Spanish.
